Ryakasinga Center for Higher Education is located about 1 ½ hours’ drive from the town of Bushenyi. The roads are very difficult and during the rainy seasons, sometimes impassable.
The Principal is Olany George Alum.
George oversees 446 students Senior 1 though Senior 6 (grades 7-12); BARHD sponsored 85 of these students in 2008. Most are boarders but some walk as many as 5 miles to and from school each day.
This school suffers from a high turnover in staff because of low salaries and lack of opportunity for a second job due to the remoteness of the school.
The facilities are adequate except for the girls’ dormitory which is overcrowded and dilapidated. A new dormitory is in the planning stages. A new science lab was completed in 2007---BARHD funded equipment and supplies in 2008. A computer lab was established in 2008.
